Sheds and garages are great to have, since they create an additional usable space — for storage or for recreation. The problem is that they can be an eyesore. Nothing mucks up a neatly manicured lawn and story book home than a 10′ by 15′ shack in the yard. It can really throw off the whole home’s aesthetic. The good news is that there are a few things you can do to make your shed or garage look more beautiful and a point of interest on the property rather than a hideous structure. Here are a few tips for doing it.

1. Paint and Accessories.
One of the easiest things you can do to make a shed or garage more beautiful is to repaint it. Using the right paint, it doesn’t matter what material the structure is made of — whether it’s metal, wood, or plastic. You might consider choosing a shade in the same color family as your home, or a complementary color to really make it interesting.

2. Landscaping.
Another easy way to make sheds and garages more beautiful is to do some landscaping. If no amount of paint will make your structure look better, plant some climbing ivy or cypress trees to cover it up. Near the door, plant some flowers or bushes to create interest and to add some life to the area. You could add a path to the door of the shed or garage using low growing bushes and other landscaping accessories.

3. Add Some Interesting Accessories.
Sometimes it just takes a couple of small changes to make a big difference in the appearance of shed and garages. If the shed has windows, adding a few flower boxes below them is going to make the shed much more attractive. Swapping out an old door for a pretty new one will create interest near the entrance and make the shed seem like a destination rather than just an outbuilding.
