Three Common Shed and Garage Materials
When you’re shopping for a new shed or garage, there are a number of different things you need to think about. You’ll need to consider the size, what you’re storing inside, what kind of foundation you’re going to need, and so on. One of the first things you need to think about is what material the structure will be built from. Here are three of the most common.
1. Metal
One of the most common materials used to build garages and sheds is metal. This is done by first constructing a metal frame and then adding metal sheathing over it. The metals used are typically either steel or galvanized aluminum. These are usually good for larger sized sheds that need to store large items and protect them from the weather. The only negative here is that some metal sheds are made with thin walls that can dent or bend.
2. Resin
Another common material that sheds and garages are built from is resin. These are usually made from things like plastic, polyethylene, or vinyl, depending on where you’re buying the material. These are not really designed for looks, but are rather sturdy and long-lasting. One of the benefits of these is that they are typically sold in sets that can be assembled with few tools. Plastic or resin sheds are also pretty low maintenance when it comes to care because they will not rot, crack, or bend.
3. Wood
The last common material that is used for garages and sheds is wood. These are probably the most aesthetically attractive. Wooden sheds are pretty versatile in the way they look as well, since there are so many different types of wood and stains. Additionally, wooden sheds can easily be painted or added to (think flower boxes and cupolas). Wooden sheds are also a good choice for people who want to have a more custom built style to precisely fit their needs.
