Anyone who has an interest in interior design or just loves to decorate their home knows how pricey it can get with a full room change. From changing the furniture, to the paint color, to the decor and the carpeting, it can run up a huge bill pretty quickly. Here are three easy ways to update a room without breaking the bank.
1. Get Some New Window Treatments
One easy way to update a room without breaking the bank is to invest in some new window treatments. You can choose fabrics and colors according to the seasons, and since they’re going to last you a long time they’re a pretty worthwhile investment. Choose custom drapery in lighter fabrics and colors for the warmer months and thicker and darker fabrics for the colder months. There are a ton of different window treatment ideas out there, from shades to drapes to valances, so don’t limit yourself.
2. Paint
Another really easy way to update a room without spending a lot of money is to throw up some new paint. You might paint the entire room a bold and different new color, or paint it a light neutral to let your furniture and accessories really stand out. You could also just paint one wall or the ceiling a bright color and let that speak for itself to really make a statement. Paint is pretty inexpensive and can always be change in the future if you change your mind.
3. Reupholstering Furniture
If you’re already happy with your window treatments and do not want to paint, you might want to consider reupholstering your existing furniture and adding some custom pillows. New couch and chair upholstery is going to completely change the look of your furniture (and make it look brand new again) without having to purchase completely new furniture.
